The year of 2018...wow, it has had its' surprises!  During our trip to the Bahamas, we decided it was time for a lifestyle change. Boats...there is always something to fix, weather to plan for; a continuous search for the perfect day.  So, we made the decision while we were in the Bahamas to sell the Christina Sea and opt for an endless road trip.  We're hoping 2019 will have lots of 

"happy nuggets"...

Update - Retirement has had its' challenges - it is not as easy as we dreamed and have had some adjustments winding down from two very stressful and demanding jobs.  We continue to evolve, grow and change as what is supposed to happen in life.  We did spend two months in the Exumas the summer of 2016 and it was wonderful!  A few problems with the boat brought us back sooner than we had hoped, but we will return!  We spent a lot of time in the Keys over the next year diving, fishing and having fun.  But then we had an impulse and discovered RV life on land - the "MerVan" came on the scene late 2016 and the summer of 2017 was spent in Alaska!  Christina Sea has missed us and we have certainly missed her.  Now in 2018, the MerVan is for sale and we're headed back to the Bahamas....stay tuned!

George retired in November 2014; but he says he works harder now than ever keeping up with the Christina Sea! Christy retired in February 2016. It all started back in 2001 when we sailed our Catalina 34, Ocean Road, over to the Abacos, Bahamas for a month. We had such a great time, Christy said jokingly, "we should live aboard some day - wouldn't that be fun!". A couple of boats, a motorcycle and a beautiful home - all sold over the next three years. We started building the Christina Sea in 2005, and we haven't looked back. It's been challenging at times working full time jobs, but we know it will be worth it. We started out living at Reynolds Yacht Center in Green Cove Springs, FL for several years. Then we bought a slip at Cocoa Village Marina in Cocoa, FL because we wanted someplace to come back to in case something happens. We spent several years in Cocoa making great friends and continuing to improve the boat. Our last year has been spent at Riviera Dunes Marina in Palmetto, FL on the west coast. Official take off is mid-March and we'll head down through the Keys doing some fishing. By early April we hope to be anchored off Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas. By early May, the plan is to be in Exumas, Bahamas for three months. We'll head back to the east coast of the US for summer. In fall of 2016 we hope to start the cycle all over again, making it further down south each year - some years maybe not coming back. The goal is to go through the Bahamas, the Grenedines and into Central America some day. But who knows, the best part of boating is not having a plan and stopping in places we like for longer periods...
